(NASDAQ:ENPH) published a technical white paper today detailing its Kestrel application-specific integrated circuit, the company’s fifth generation of custom silicon for power conversion applications. The chip is designed for use across multiple Enphase products, including microinverters, IQ Battery systems, the IQ Bidirectional EV Charger, and the IQ Solid-State Transformer. The ASIC is fabricated using a 22 nanometer complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor process, according to a press release statement. Kestrel integrates control hardware, four 100 megasamples per second analog-to-digital converters, power line communication controllers, low voltage differential signaling controllers, hardware-enforced isolation, cryptography, secure boot, and functional safety features into a single silicon platform.
