A U.S.-Mexico Impasse Will Test How Far the Trump Administration Will Go to Fight Drug Trade

The Trump administration has threatened to act alone against Mexican drug traffickers, causing tension with Mexico. President Claudia Sheinbaum has refused to arrest Mexican officials who are charged in the United States with drug corruption. The U.S. Justice Department announced indictments on April 29 against ten current and former Mexican officials, including the governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya. U.S. officials have not yet shared all the evidence they have against these individuals.
